In late April, Tesla held a closed event for its investors, dedicated to unmanned technology. The main premiere of the evening was the demonstration of the Full Self Driving Chip microchip, which will be responsible for processing data on the new generation of Autopilot system. The chip will include six billion transistors and a neural network accelerator capable of performing up to 72 trillion operations per second. The data will be sent to the processor from the radar, GPS, ultrasonic sensors, and steering angle sensor.

At the same time, Tesla demonstrated the capabilities of the new autopilot module in a two-minute clip. In the video, the Tesla Model 3 electric car rides both in the city and on the highway without driver participation. The car independently stops at traffic lights, changes lanes, makes overtaking, drives off the motorway to a junction and comes back.

But the next generation, autopilot does not end there. Thus, the head of the company Ilon Mask promised that in the future the system will be able not only to keep the car in the occupied lane but also automatically to go around small irregularities and potholes to reduce the degree of tire wear.

Autopilot "Tesla" is capable of more complicated tricks. For example, the startup The Boring Company, supervised by Iron Mask, recently conducted an unusual experiment. The Americans organized a competition between two electric cars Model 3, one of which was driving in heavy traffic through the streets of Los Angeles, and the other through a particular high-speed tunnel.

The car, which moved under the ground, reached a speed of 204 km / h, while the vehicle, which followed the roads, accelerated only to 71 km / h. As a result, the first one reached the finish line in just 1 minute. And 36 seconds and the second arrived at the destination only after 4 minutes. And 44 sec. After the start. When asked whether it was difficult for the autopilot to drive an electric car through a narrow tunnel, Elon Musk replied: “Not a bit!”

The car did not even use unique mounts in the form of new folding rollers, which are installed under the front part of the body and are designed to prevent contact with the walls of the tunnel.

The idea of ​​The Boring Company’s transport system is to build a network of high-speed tunnels under the big cities that are drilled by a particular Godot drilling machine. According to the concept, the car rises on a unique platform with an electric drive, which falls below the ground and moves into a 3.6-meter-wide tunnel. There the vehicle with the help of a particular device is mounted on a monorail, along which it can travel at a speed of up to 200 km per hour.

Mask believes that the new underground network will relieve the usual highways and reduce the level of traffic congestion in megalopolises. In the future, the network of tunnels is supposed to be combined with the vacuum system of Hyperloop high-speed passenger trains, which theoretically can move at a speed of up to 1200 km per hour.

Recently, one of the owners of the electric vehicle Tesla was surprised to find on the display of the multimedia complex a message about the malfunction of the power conversion system. In this case, the computer notified the motorist that he had independently sent a request for the necessary part, which they could bring to the nearest company service.

In "Tesla," they confirmed the new possibility of electric cars, which learned how to self-diagnose faults and pre-order the necessary spare parts, for which they no longer have to line up. "It's like going straight to the pharmacy, bypassing the trip to the doctor," - said in Tesla.

Tesla electric cars can take care not only of themselves and their passengers but also of pets. For example, the new Dog Mode special mode allows dog owners to leave their pets alone in the parked car.

After switching on the Dog Mode, the electronics will close the windows and lock the doors, but at the same time, the climate system will continue to maintain a comfortable temperature inside. Also, the inscription will be displayed on the multimedia display: “My master will be back soon. I'm fine, don't worry. ” The message is intended to warn bystanders who, noticing an animal locked in a car in hot weather, can call the police or even break a window.

If the battery drops to a level that is not capable of ensuring proper operation of the air conditioner, the system will notify the owner by sending a message to the mobile phone.

If there is still no dog inside the car, the Sentry Mode, which has two stages of operation, will take over the protection function. The first one, called Alert, includes cameras of the all-around viewing system, which start recording if the sensors detect suspicious movement near the car.

When attempting to break, the electronics will switch to the Alarm stage. The screen of the infotainment complex will turn red, and from the powerful speakers of the audio system, the famous organ “Toccata and Fugue in D minor” by Johann Sebastian Bach will burst.
